Frequently Asked Questions

Are we really going to be using copper to make roses?

Yes. The roses are made with 99.9% pure copper. We prepare the metal prior to the day so it’s easier to work with than raw copper.

What do I need to supply?

It’s pretty simple. You provide the people and the place. We bring the copper, the tools and the know how!

Are we going to be using a forge or fire?

No. We prepare the metal prior to the day, so you will be using hand tools. This makes it easier for everyone to talk, laugh and be relaxed during the class.
A small amount of drilling is required, which will be done by the host.

Safety wear and equipment?

We need everyone to wear some kind of shoes, and we will provide safety eye wear to be worn for the first half of the class. But you can wear whatever you want, including pretty dresses. Only your hands will get a little bit dirty.
The biggest safety risk is small, sharp pieces of copper, which we will vacuum up at the end of the class.
We will also bring hand sanitiser and cleaning equipment to help keep everything sanitised in the fight against COVID-19.

How long does the class go for?

The class goes for three hours, and everyone should be able to finish their rose in that time. If anyone is unable to finish (rare), they’ll be given instructions on how to easily finish the rose at home as only the finishing touches might not be done.

Can children participate?

Due to the amount of time this takes, and the strength needed to work with the copper, anyone from the age of 14 up is welcome to join the class.

Does the class have to be at my home?

Not at all! As well as your home, this class can be done at an AirBnB, a cafe (if they don’t mind some drilling), in the park on a nice day, or at another venue. The only requirement we have beyond access to bathroom facilities and refreshments, is that everyone can sit down comfortably at a workspace (ideally, a table and chair) with enough room to move their arms freely. Let us know where you’re thinking, and we’ll happily work with the venue to make sure everyone’s requirements are met. If you’re having it at home and a little short on tables and chairs, we might be able to help.

What about cancellations and changes of dates?

We’re living in uncertain times, and we’ve taken that into account with our cancellation policy.

COVID-19 policy:
If any emergency measures ban gatherings, you’ll get a complete refund. Even if it happens on the day! Until the vaccine is available, we will also refund anyone who can’t attend due to illness - but we may request proof they got swabbed.

Other cancellations policy:
If you cancel or reschedule more than two weeks in advance, we won’t charge you a dime!
Five days to two weeks in advance, we can cancel or change the date for a $50 booking fee.
Less than five days in advance, we charge 50% of the total booking cost.
Same day cancellations incur 100% of the total booking cost.
